Negligence makes a patient die before his or her destiny pulls. Cases after cases witnessed the poor performance of the health department in Cachar District aimed COVID pandemic.
Hospital authorities are irresponsive to the new patients before testing them for COVID, no matter how serious they actually are. They refer their negligences as protocol but for the victims, it is nothing but the loss of life. Do COVID protocols are larger than life? Protocols are for life or loss of life due to protocols?
A few days ago, Sayan Das, a 26 years young boy from Bilpar Silchar scummed due to negligence by the hospital authorities. The young Sayan was also taking care of his family economically as he was working in Silchar Municipality Board.
At the late-night of July 30, his family dragged him to SM Dev Civil Hospital (SMDCH) initially, as the young Das felt some minor health issues. But SM Dev Civil Hospital casually referred the patient to Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH).
Ignoring all hardels of shifting the patient from here to there at that late-night, Das family shifted him to SMCH. Neither SMCH nor the SMDCH was at least willing to provide primary treatment to the patient in name of COVID protocols.
Das was continuously facing breathing trouble, but the hospital authorities were busy to do round checkups rather saving his life. After some time the victimised Das family was informed that Sayan is no more. The spiral of confusion begins actually after his death on the midnight of July 30.
Both the hospital authorities are being soo confused about his death. SMCH and SMDCH both want to be relaxed by saying Sayan Das was already dead at the time he was brought to the hospital. There is no justification yet whether Sayan died by COVID or not.
Neither proclaimed media expert Suman Choudhury nor Dr Prasenjit Ghosh, the man said to be involved in Sayan’s postmortem can clarify what actually happened to young Das on his last day. Both of their statement is actually contradicting the situations.
When both SMCH and SMDCH says Sayan Das was brought there when he was already dead, his family and the blacken circumstances alleges both the authorities for their negligence behind his death.
