Uttar Pradesh gangster Vikas Dubey, accused of killing eight policemen last week, was arrested on Thursday morning from a temple in Madhya Pradesh after a five-day chase across four states. Vikas Dubey arrived at the famous Mahakal temple this morning and was spotted when he was reportedly trying to enter through the back gate after buying prayer offerings from a shop.
The criminal had reportedly travelled 700 km by road from Faridabad in Haryana through Rajasthan’s Kota to Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh in a car with a UP number plate. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav said the Yogi Adityanath government in UP should clarify whether Vikas Dubey surrendered or was arrested.
The gangster, wanted in the killing of eight policemen in Kanpur last week, was arrested earlier on Thursday morning in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain. Madhya Pradesh home minister Narottam Mishra asserted that Vikas Dubey was arrested, he did not surrender.

Richa Dubey, the wife of Vikas Dubey, and the couple’s elder son were arrested in Lucknow on the charge of harbouring the gangster and acting in connivance with him.
