Timber smuggling still continues from Dholai the home constituency of Paimal Suklabaidya the Minister of Forest and Environment, Assam. Police releases timber loaded truck after an influential phone call.
The administration including the Forest Department of Assam is silent on the issues of smuggling Forest resources from the state. Notably, just two days back, Lailapur Police seizes a truck loaded with large quantities of teak wood along with the driver and handyman from Assam-Mizoram border. However, after receiving a phone call from an influential person, the police releases the driver and handyman along with the timber loaded truck.
In the same way, around 8 pm on Saturday last, a local resident of Dholai reports that a truck AS-11-CC/2955 deceptively written water supply in its front which was actually carrying a huge quantity of timber.
He informed the Forest Minister Parimal Suklabaidya over phone but there was no necessary response from the Forest Minister. Then he immediately stopped the suspected truck and informed the Dholai police. After the information received the police reached the spot and seized the timber loaded truck.
But unfortunately, the matter remained unsolved again as the police released the timber truck along with the driver. Sources said, police releases the truck after receiving a phone call from a person close to the Minister.
However, the question is raised here how the wood came in the deceptive water supply truck? Why are leaders and ministers silent on this issue still?
