Timber smuggling between Mizoram and Assam continues during the lockdown. For a long time the forest mafia smuggling timbers like sal, teak, etc. from Mizoram to other parts of the northeast via Assam.
It is proved again when Assam police seized a truck fully loaded with illegal teak wood timber coming from Mizoram. Recently the police seized a truck bearing registration number MZ-03-7722 at Lailapur of Assam Mizoram border. But the driver of the vehicle was able to escape. The truck was coming from Mizoram.
The incident has raised questions about the role of concerned department for the Government of Mizoram.
Meanwhile, the opposition questioned for taking place the incident at the constituency of Parimal Suklabaidya the Minister of Environment & Forest, Government of Assam.
On the other hand, the police investigation is going on as per the instruction of Manabendra Debroy the Police Superintendent of Cachar district in Assam.
