The Supreme Court has declined the plea to celebrate Maharam this year aimed the pandemic situation. SC has rejected permission for carrying out Muharram procession across the country on Thursday.

Further SC asked Lucknow-based petitioner to move before the Allahabad High Court with his plea. The bench allowed the petitioner to withdraw the petition with the liberty to approach the high court with a limited prayer of holding a procession in Lucknow.

According to the concerned jurists of Hyderabad HC, it would lead to chaos and targeting of a particular community. The apex court however hesitating to pass a general order for the whole country.
