SMCH to start Plasma Therapy by next week says the Principal Dr. Babul Kr Bezbaruah in a press conference held at Silchar on Monday.

In Assam, the number of infection is increasing day by day, in such a situation the government wants to use plasma therapy to combat covid-19. Plasma collection system already been sent to the Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has instructed the  SMCH authority to setup the system as earliest as possible.

Addressing to a press conference the Principal Dr. Babul Kr Bezbaruah said, The Plasma collection system will be installed on Wednesday and the treatment will be start by next week.

Notably, the plasma is found in blood which contains water, salts (electrolytes) and proteins. A recovered symptomatic  covid-19 patient can donate blood for the treatment of other covid patients. Plasma collected from 1 unit blood of a covid recovered patient can be used for the treatment of 2 covid patients.
