No more disgrace ahead of the resumption of domestic airline services in Silchar, the second biggest city in Assam. Though it was initially under query but finally Silchar Kumbhirgram Airport resuming its flight service from next Monday. The first flight in Cachar after lockdown will land on Monday. The passengers will be quarantined after sample collection at the airport.
Cachar Deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli visits Kumbhirgram airport on Saturday and takes stock of the preparedness in connection with resumption of flight services from Monday. Though the returnees by bus were quarantined without swab test, this time flight passengers will have to go through swab test.
Earlier Silchar airport was actually being excluded from the list of airports ready for resumption of flights. Silchar MP Dr Rajdeep Roy expressed disappointment over exclusion of the Silchar airport from the list of airports ready for resumption of flights. The MP also requested Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri to reconsider the matter since the people of Barak Valley have been waiting to reach home by flights.
