Former MLA Rumi Nath and MLA Rajdeep Gowala come with a new twist in the political scenario of Assam for 2021 election. These two representatives of Assam Congress was expelled for six years on Friday for anti congress activities. While Gowala is a party MLA from Lakhipur constituency, Rumi Nath lastly contested as a congress representative from Borkhola constituency.
According to the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee, Rumi Nath was issued a show-cause letter on August 21. Though she replied to the show cause notice on August 28, her reply was not satisfactory. Gowala was allegedly hobnobbing with the BJP for some time.
Just a few months back, Assam’s Health Minister Hemanta Biswa Sarma had claimed that Rajdeep Gowala would be joining the BJP with some other Congress MLAs in the state. Was this statement also paved a way for Rumi Nath joining BJP? Rumi Nath seems the major political game-changer who shocks the entire state politics in Assam by her journey from BJP to Congress and maybe now Congress to BJP.
