Northeast India can be a new major tourist attraction after Covid-19 era as Union Northeast Development Minister Jitendra Singh expressed his confidence about the growing demand for the pristine nature of the NE region.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurates “Destination North East 2020” fest via video conference on Sunday. Chief Ministers of the northeast states also joined the inauguration event via video conferencing.

The event is being attended by prominent personalities of various states. The event will take place between September 27 and September 30. Owing to the current situation, the festival is being held virtually, making it accessible to everyone who’s interested in being a part of it.

‘Destination North East-2020’ is a calendar event of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region conceptualised with the objective of taking the northeastern region to other parts of the country and bringing them closer together in order to strengthen national integration.

Northeastern culture is the jewel of Indian culture says Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday. Northeast India is rich in culture and without northeast, India and Indian culture are incomplete.

He also assures all CMs and people of the northeast that all NE remaining problems will be resolved before 2024. According to him, the ruling ministry wants to make northeast a hub of IT, organic farming and education for a better future.

Manipur blockade, Bangladesh land boundary agreement, Bru agreement, Bodo agreement, the surrender of 644 cadres of eight extreme groups with their weapons are some of the examples of the work done by the Modi government in Northeastern region. This can only be done when the government understands their problems and tries to solve them. Shah also confronts that the Modi government is committed to more development of northeastern states.

Union Northeast Development Minister Jitendra Singh expressed his confidence that the region will get a major tourism boost post-COVID-19 pandemic. He further added that on in the coming times, tourism in the Northeast will get a major boost because domestic tourists will realise its easy accessibility and pristine nature.

Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal along with others also attended the virtual inauguration of Destination North East-2020 event aimed at boosting tourism in the region on Sunday.
