Lawyer Prashant Bhusan giving historic plenty of 1 rupee to SC (supreme court of India). The Supreme Court has imposed this historic penalty of 1 rupee only on activist-lawyer Prashant Bhushan as his punishment in the criminal contempt case.
Lawyer Prashant Bhushan had been found guilty of contempt for his two tweets on Supreme Court and SA Bobde the Chief Justice of India. The Supreme Court has received the penalty of one rupees from the lawyer Prashant Bhusan in this regard on Monday. The catfight between SA Bobde the chief justice and lawyer Prashant Bhusan turns into a penalty of 1 rupee to Supreme Court.
The court agreed that there does not need to be a stringent punishment or a jail term for Bhushan in view of his contribution as a lawyer. The bench, in its order, took note that Bhushan chose not to apologise or express regret despite repeated opportunities.
A bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra said Bhushan must deposit Re 1 by September 15. If the lawyer fails to do so, he will be jailed for 3 months besides a debarment from practice for a period of 3 years.
