Forest officials of recently has rescued a Parakeet from a miscreants at Silchar. The bird was tied in a cruel manner with iron chain in its leg.

Not even a bird of the open sky is safe from the human beings, same thing happened with a green parrot. Some miscreants held the bird captive with tying iron chain in it’s leg. Forest officials saw the incident and rescue the bird and bring it to the Cachar Divisional Forest Office at Silchar. The departmental officials untied the legs of the bird and released it into the open sky.

Notably, keeping or harming the parakeets or any birds is a punishable offence under Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. The punishment prescribes as 3-7 years imprisonment or fine of rupees 10-25 thousand or both.
