The special cell of Delhi Police take custody of JNU student Sharjeel Imam the anti CAA activist from Guwahati Central Jail on Saturday.

Sharjeel Imam is one of the key organizer of the Shaheen Bagh protest against Citizenship Amendment Act and who wanted Assam to be separated from India.

Sharjeel Imam the PhD scholar at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been booked on sedition and other charges after supported videos of his hate speech during protest  against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

Delhi Police registered an FIR against him  on January 25 in this connection under section of IPC  124 A for sedition and 153 A for Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.

Earlier several cases were registered against him for creating communal tense in the country  and was detained by police.
