Chinese Super League causes 2nd covid wave with 61 new covid positive cases on Monday. It is the highest spike in single day covid tally since April in China.
According to the National Health Commission 57 cases out of 61 new cases was reported in the northwestern Xinjiang region, where a sudden outbreak in the regional capital of Urumqi occurred in mid-July.
The outbreaks come a day after the Chinese Super League football tournament season on Saturday. As of Sunday, 83,891 cases have been confirmed with a death toll of 4,634 in the country.
Fourteen domestic cases were reported in the city of Dalian last week. Lockdown announced at the residential areas of Dalian and Urumqui. City-wide testing programme will be conducted for early detection to normalise the situation.
