Two team of Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) from Guwahati and Shillong raids again at Karimganj to investigate the illegal coal smuggling.
The Meghalaya Lokayukta (an anti-corruption ombudsman) Chairperson PK Musahary has asked the CBI to submit investigation report within 15 days against illegal coal smuggling.
Meanwhile, the leaders of both ruling and opposition parties, police personals from top to bottom involved in the present coal scam are terrified over CBI raid at Karimganj.
On the other hand, the state government is feeling uneasy as many leaders of the ruling party were mentioned in the complain by Meghalaya Lokayukta.
The CBI has taken over the charge of investigation against Coal syndicate in Barak Valley allegedly for tax evasion in the transportation of coal from Meghalaya through Cachar and Karimgnaj district by bribing Government officials.
Police seized a diary and other valuable government documents during a raid at the residence of coal mafia Abdul Ahad Choudhury based on an FIR in 2018. The diary mentions the name of those who collects hooligan tax from the international coal scam. Ruling party leaders, ministers along with govt officials were mentioned in the case.
Notably, the case was recommended for the CBI probe by Sarbananda Sonowal the Chief Minister of Assam in 2018. The Central Government referred to the case to the investigation agency by on February 20 this year.
