Border Security Force (BSF) of India taking the charge at parts of Assam-Mizoram border in order to reinstall peace between the two Northeastern state. According to the concerned security officials, Mizoram is going to withdraw a section of its state forces from the border with Assam and BSF personnel will be deployed in their place.
Mizoram is going withdraw its forces from the disputed areas and the blockade on National Highway-306 on the Assam side will be lifted. The sticky dispute between the two States is actually over a share of 146.6 km border.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla, finallises the descision at a recent meeting between the chief secretaries of Assam and Mizoram. The traffic movement from Assam is likely to resume soon after the BSF takeover.
Addressing the press after the meeting, Mizoram Chief Secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo said a unanimous decision was taken at the meeting for the sattlement. Further, residents of Lailapur village and nearby areas in Assam”s Cachar district are on an economic blockade since October 28, demanding the withdrawal of Mizoram forces from what they claimed as Assam”s territory.
The ongoing tension and cruelity at Assam-Mizoram border also touched many political leaders whoever been there for sattlement. The politicians allegedly hit by a mob attack. Assam Congress team also faced it with flying stones and marbles over them. Day by day worsening situation at Assam-Mizoram border led the Home ministery to place BSF over there.
