Assam girl Devangana Kalita has been arrested by the crime branch of Delhi Police allegedly for unlawful assembly and rioting at Daryaganj.
Devangana kalita, an MPhil student at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has been arrested by Delhi Police for 3 times within 10 days in connection with protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She is under 3 days police custody.
Kalita was earlier arrested, along with fellow student Natasha Narwal, on 23rd May for her presence at the Jaffrabad in protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and subsequently released on bail.
Delhi police arrest her for 2nd time on 28th May in connection with the violence in Delhi and she was charged with attempt to murder, rioting and criminal conspiracy. Narwal has also been charged under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. (UAPA). While the police had sought 14 days custody, the court only granted two.
After the end of the custody, the crome branch of Delhi police arrests Devangana Kalita for 3rd time with the charge of unlawful assembly and rioting at Daryaganj on 1st June.
