Wild animals are crossing the road in search of a safe place to survive the floods in the low-lying areas of Kaziranga National Park. Police are active in reducing the speed of vehicles moving towards both Upper Assam and Lower Assam.
The low-lying areas of Kaziranga National Park are flooded every year due to heavy rainfall during the monsoon. The animals cross the NH 37 (now NH 715) at Kohora Range area for searching a safe place to avoid the flood. But it is not possible to see them from a distance in the of night. As a result, every year many wild animals have to die in the road accidents while crossing the highway.
The Golaghat police has initiated to protect the wild lives. The speed of vehicular movement both towards Upper Assam and Lower Assam have been reduced. The on-duty police under Kohora Police Outpost are monitoring the matter to control the speed.
