Silchar the city of joy in Assam witnessed allegations after allegations for making derogatory remarks against Shri Ram Chandra and hurting religious sentiments aimed Bhoomi Poojan in Ayodhya Ram Mandir on August 5. From school-going girl Satabdi Bhattacherjee to Assam University Lecturer Anindya Sen get trolled for a controversial posts hurting Hindu sentiments through their virtual media activities.
Though there may nothing wrong or illegal in that comment or post by them, still it seems heavy because of the ongoing communal tension in the city after the Malugram clash aimed the initialisation of Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
5th August 2020 The day marked the occasion of the Bhoomi Poojan in Ayodhya Ram Mandir. It is the golden date when Bhoomi Poojan of Ayodhya Ram Mandir actually happened after the 28 years of legal struggle. With the initialisation of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, August 5 created the new Indian history to the people of the World.
On the contrary, both the history and the historic day created a blast of mixed actions and reactions on social media too. After Bhoomi Poojan in Ayodhya Ram Mandir on August 5, several got trapped in social media troll in Silchar too.
Anindya Sen, an assistant professor of English at Assam University in Silchar posted a joke on Lord Rama and Sita on Facebook. Soon after, the comments section is flooded with abuse and vicious trolling. One Facebook user also warned Sen “that the cyber cell department will arrest him.” Sen was working at Assam University for nine years. Sen said he is saddened that online posts invoke such a reaction.
An FIR had been registered against Sen, based on a complaint filed by an ABVP functionary. Rohit Chanda, a student, member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the complainant in this particular case. He lodged the complaint against Sen for denigrating Hindu god Ram and hurting religious sentiments.
The copy of the FIR states that professor Anindya Sen made derogatory remarks against Prabhu Ramchandra on social media. He was also found disturbing for continuously posting such abusive posts defaming Hindu dharma and also abuses constitutional posts like Prime Minister and Home Minister of the country.
Meanwhile, Satabdi Bhattacherjee, a schoolgoer from Silchar also faced tremendous troll on Facebook just like the same as Prof Sen. The moment she commented on a friend’s post on Facebook about eating beef, the trolling begins.
Within a flash of a span, the screenshot gets shared like the new trend breakout in the city. Satabdi left no way and get scared after constant death and rape threats. She finally has to deactivate her Facebook account. Trollers also destroyed her Instagram.
An FIR also gets lodged against her with a charge that she intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs.
