Thiruvananthapuram Express catches fire at Silchar railway station on Sunday near about at 7:30 in the morning. Three coaches burnt in the incident. Silchar Agartala passenger train escaped from a major accident. Destructive hand suspected behind the incident in the initial investigation.
Silchar Agartala passenger train was waiting for signal in the 3rd platform of Silchar railway station. On the other hand Silchar Thiruvananthapuram Express was parking position in the 4th platform of the station. Suddenly one of the compartment of Thiruvananthapuram Express catches fire and spread rapidly to other compartments. It creates panic among the passengers of Silchar Agartala passenger train.
The railway staffs involved to control the fire after the incident came to notice and inform the fire brigade. Immediately the Silchar Agartala passenger train was shifted to another platform to escape from any major accident.
The situation came under control after an hour long effort of fire brigade. But three compartments had already burnt completely before the fire brigade reached the spot. No casualties reported in the incident. But destructive hand suspected behind the incident in the initial investigation.
